Bangladesh teachers to arrive soon!

On Tuesday 24th November, as part of our Connecting Classrooms project, St. Helen's will be hosting 6 teachers from Barisal, Bangladesh.  They will be coming to see lessons and speak to staff and children.  As part of the day, we will be singing the Welsh National Anthem.  Please click here to learn the words and hear it being sung.

Children in Need!

On Friday 20th November, St. Helen's will be raising funds for Children in Need by wearing pyjamas and slippers to school!  Children are to donate £1, with lots of fun planned for the day!  Please support a very worthy cause.

School wins 1st prize in Dylan Thomas Competition

St. Helen's has won first prize in Dylan Thomas competition organised by Anne Haden.  The year 6 pupils worked with art teacher, Julian Lewis, to create a fantatsic canvas based collage using the theme 'Under Milk Wood'.

Halloween Disco @ St. Helen's

On Thursday 22nd October, St. Helen's Primary School held a special Halloween disco.  There was great music with DJ Chris Gibbins, games and loads and loads of fun.  Pupils, staff and parents dressed in FANCY DRESS to get into the spirit!  We raised just under £200 from the event, so thank you to everyone who contributed.

St. Helen's take part in Swans4Schools initiative!

On Saturday 26th September, a number of St. Helen's pupils will take the opportunity to visit the Liberty Stadium in Swansea to watch the Swans take on Sheff Utd for FREE.

School closes for Summer Holidays!

St. Helen's Primary School officially closes for the summer holidays on Tuesday 21st July (for pupils).  The school reopens on Wednesday 3rd September (for pupils).  There is an INSET day on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd September, 2009 for all staff.  Have a HAPPY SUMMER everyone!

School achieves 2nd place in International Schools Award 'Best Newcomer 2009'

Vouchers collected with thanks!

St. Helen's Primary School would like to thank all pupils, parents, staff, governors and friends who donated vouchers for our school to purchase new equipment.  We managed to collect 13,900 Tesco vouchers and 2,300 Sainsbury's vouchers!  Thanks very much, your help is much appreciated by all.

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers needed!

St. Helen's Primary School would like to ask all pupils, parents and friends, if they have any outstanding Sainsbury's Sports vouchers to please bring them in to school so we can count them all and send off for some sports equipment.  Many thanks.

Official Opening of Peace Garden

On Tuesday 19th May (10am) our new Peace Garden was officially opened by Swansea's new Lord Mayor, Alan Lloyd.  Many parents and friends attended the event in the Infant Yard.  The school officially opened the garden by inviting people from all walks of life to tie a ribbon around the entrance.  For a full report, please see page 15 of today's Evening Post.

Welsh Bird of Prey Centre visits St. Helen's

On Friday 22nd May, Mike Wikeman from the Welsh Bird of Prey Centre in Pembrokeshire brought in seven fantastic birds of prey.  Some very lucky pupils were chosen to hold a beautiful owl.  For all the pictures click here.

World Culture Day

On Thursday 20th May, St. Helen's will be holding its WORLD CULTURE DAY!  Pupils, parents and staff will be dressing up in traditional clothing from a variety of countries to celebrate our culturalism and diversity.  For more info click here.

SCHOOL FETE RAISES £510

A big thank you goes to all the staff, pupils, parents and friends who contributed to making our school fete a huge success.  We raised made £510 (profit) in total.  The money will be put back into the children's education to enhance teaching and learning!  Well done everyone!

St. Helen's perform brilliantly for Lord Mayor!

On Friday 8th May, St. Helen's will be performing at the Lord Mayor of Swansea's Inauguration Ceremony at The Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.  Video now available here!

XL Wales Workshop @ St. Helen's

WELSH WEEK 2009

On Monday 2nd March, St. Helen's Primary School celebrated St. David's Day with its annual Welsh Week!  There were class items such as songs, poems, dances and even interviews; as well as the usual art, Welsh writing and English writing competitions!  Parents showed their support by attending on the day their child was performing.  Thank you to everyone involved in making the week so successful!  Click here for the pictures!

Go Bananas Day proves big success!

On Friday 6th March, St. Helen's launched Fairtrade Fortnight with a 'Go Bananas Day' which promotes use of Fairtrade products.

On Tuesday 24th February St. Helen's will open for children at the normal time of 8.50am.  There is NO school on Monday 23rd February as it is closed for staff training.  See you all soon!

City of Sanctuary Launch proves a big success!

On Wednesday 4th February, St. Helen's Primary hosted the first ever City of Sanctuary meeting in Swansea.  The launch was opened by Swansea Lord Mayor and was attended by over 120 people.  For more information and pictures please click here.

Holocaust Memorial Day is huge success!

On Thursday 29th January, St. Helen's Primary School participated in the prestigious Holocaust Memorial Day.  The theme this year was "Stand up to Hatred" and there were many different events and performances.

Book Fair is huge success!

From Monday 1st December to Friday 5th December, St. Helen's Primary held a Book Fair from Scholastic every lunch time and after school.  It was a very successful week with pupils, parents, staff and friends purchasing over £350 worth of books and stationary!  Thank you very much!!

Football team knocked out of Swansea Schools Cup at 1st round!

Last day of school year is tomorrow...but don't worry we're back on Wednesday 3rd September!

St. Helen's Primary will close its doors on Tuesday 22nd July to end a very busy, but productive year!  All the staff would like to wish Year 6 all the very best when they go to secondary school in September.  We start back on Wednesday 3rd September 2008 to begin another eventful school year.  Have a nice summer holiday!

St. Helen's School celebrates SILVER success!

On Friday 11th July, St. Helen's welcomed two visitors to the school who were here to assess the whole school's ability in self evaluation.  The school were striving to achieve the Silver Self Evaluation Award.  Full report here.
